Read the Blog: https://www.calebcurry.com/blogs/database-clustering/intro-to-database-clustering Get ClusterControl: http://bit.ly/ClusterControl In this video we are going to be discussing database clustering and how to manage database clusters with ClusterControl. Database clustering is when you have multiple computers working together that are all used to store your data. There are four primary reasons you should consider clustering. Data redundancy, Load balancing (scalability) High availability. Monitoring and Automation That is an intro to a few of the reasons having a cluster is a good idea. Obviously, not everyone needs a cluster. A cluster can be overkill. But the best way to know is to learn more about them, so I’ll see you in the next video! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

When to use Oracle Database Bitmap Indexes Lesson 1

00:49
This tutorial will identify some use cases for Oracle bitmap indexes, including some of the more advanced capabilities. See all lessons, free, at http://www.skillbuilders.com/when-to-use-oracle-bitmap-indexes. Indexing your Oracle Database for best performance? There are cases, depending on data structures and queries, where b-tree indexes are not useful (e.g. scan access paths perform inadequately). In these cases, bitmap indexes may be a better solution. Bitmap indexes are a powerful tool, but they need to be used with care. Inappropriate use may cause problems worse than those they solve. The tutorial covers somewhat more advanced cases such as using bitmap join indexes to denormalize a snowflake schema, and to enable star transformations in queries that join fact tables to several dimension tables. This training will benefit any Oracle DBA administering a Data Warehouse or VLDB and "power" developers working in same. Instructor: Oracle Certified Master DBA John Watson, SkillBuilders

These inputs include performance data (sales dollars, sales units, and gross profit), product attributes (brand, color, and size/fit), store attributes (climate, store format, size, and servicing distribution center), third-party data such as demographics (income, ethnicity, and population density), and customer segments. In this session we’ll show you how to generate a store cluster. The video is part of the Oracle Retail Cloud Documentation Video series, developed by the Oracle retail Documentation team to demonstrate, explain, and enhance your experience with the application. How Modern SQL Databases Come up with Algorithms that You Would Have Never Dreamed Of (vJUG)

47:11
SQL is the only ever successful, mainstream, and general-purpose 4GL (Fourth Generation Programming Language) and it is awesome! With modern cost based optimisation, relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL finally keep up to the promise of a powerful declarative programming model by adapting to ever changing productive data without performance penalties. Thousand-line-long, complex SQL statements can be run in far below a millisecond against billion-row strong tables if database developers know their ways around the SQL language - and the best news is: It's not that hard! In this talk, I'll show how the SQL database will constantly outperform any hand written data retrieval algorithm - or in other words - how SQL, being a logic language, is the best language for business logic. Simon Maple Simon is a Developer Advocate at ZeroTurnaround, and is all about community discussion and interaction. His passion around technical communities led him to become the founder and organiser of the vJUG (virtualJUG), as well as continuing to be an active leader of the London Java Community (LJC). Simon’s energy in building and driving the Java community forward culminated in him becoming a Java Champion in 2014. Previously, Simon worked for IBM for almost 12 years, testing, developing and evangelising WebSphere Application Server. He is an experienced speaker, having presented at JavaOne, DevoxxUK, DevoxxFR, IBM Impact, JDC, JMaghreb and many more (including the vJUG :) ), and is a keen technical writer for RebelLabs. Lukas Eder I am the founder and CEO of Data Geekery GmbH, located in Zurich, Switzerland. With my company I have been selling database products and services around Java and SQL since 2013. Ever since my Master’s studies at EPFL in 2006, I have been fascinated by the interaction of Java and SQL. Most of this experience I have obtained in the Swiss E-Banking field through various variants (JDBC, Hibernate, mostly with Oracle). I am happy to share this knowledge at various conferences, JUGs, in-house presentations and on my blog. Here’s my conference and JUG talk schedule for the most recent time: http://www.jooq.org/news.

What is DATA CLEANSING? What does DATA CLEANSING mean? DATA CLEANSING meaning & explanation

What is DATA CLEANSING? What does DATA CLEANSING mean? DATA CLEANSING meaning - DATA CLEANSING definition - DATA CLEANSING explanation. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Data cleansing or data cleaning is the process of detecting and correcting (or removing) corrupt or inaccurate records from a record set, table, or database and refers to identifying incomplete, incorrect, inaccurate or irrelevant parts of the data and then replacing, modifying, or deleting the dirty or coarse data. Data cleansing may be performed interactively with data wrangling tools, or as batch processing through scripting. After cleansing, a data set should be consistent with other similar data sets in the system. The inconsistencies detected or removed may have been originally caused by user entry errors, by corruption in transmission or storage, or by different data dictionary definitions of similar entities in different stores. Data cleansing differs from data validation in that validation almost invariably means data is rejected from the system at entry and is performed at the time of entry, rather than on batches of data. The actual process of data cleansing may involve removing typographical errors or validating and correcting values against a known list of entities. The validation may be strict (such as rejecting any address that does not have a valid postal code) or fuzzy (such as correcting records that partially match existing, known records). Some data cleansing solutions will clean data by cross checking with a validated data set. A common data cleansing practice is data enhancement, where data is made more complete by adding related information. For example, appending addresses with any phone numbers related to that address. Data cleansing may also involve activities like, harmonization of data, and standardization of data. For example, harmonization of short codes (st, rd, etc.) to actual words (street, road, etcetera). Standardization of data is a means of changing a reference data set to a new standard, ex, use of standard codes. Administratively, incorrect or inconsistent data can lead to false conclusions and misdirected investments on both public and private scales. For instance, the government may want to analyze population census figures to decide which regions require further spending and investment on infrastructure and services. In this case, it will be important to have access to reliable data to avoid erroneous fiscal decisions. In the business world, incorrect data can be costly. Many companies use customer information databases that record data like contact information, addresses, and preferences. For instance, if the addresses are inconsistent, the company will suffer the cost of resending mail or even losing customers. The profession of forensic accounting and fraud investigating uses data cleansing in preparing its data and is typically done before data is sent to a data warehouse for further investigation. There are packages available so you can cleanse/wash address data while you enter it into your system. This is normally done via an application programming interface (API)......

Introduction to ETL Testing

07:09
ETL Testing, What is ETL Testing?, Benefits of ETL Testing, What is Data warehousing?, ETL Testing process, and ETL Tester Roles & Responsibilities. 1. What is ETL? ETL refers to Extracting, Transforming and Loading of Data from any outside system to the required place. These are the basic 3 steps in the Data Integration process. . Extracting means locating the Data and removing from the source file, . Transforming is the process of transporting it to the required target file and . Loading the file in the target system in the format applicable. 2. Explain what are the ETL Testing Operations Includes? ETL testing includes . Verify whether the data is transforming correctly according to business requirements. . Verify that the projected data is loaded into the data warehouse without any truncation and data loss... . Make sure that ETL application reports invalid data and replaces with default values. . Make sure that data loads at expected time frame to improve scalability and performance 3. What are the various Tools used in ETL? . Cognos Decision Stream . Oracle Warehouse Builder . Business Objects XI . SAS business warehouse . SAS Enterprise ETL server 4) What are ETL Tester Capabilities? . In depth knowledge on the ETL tools and processes. . Needs to write the SQL queries for the various given scenarios during the testing phase. . Should be able to carry out different types of tests such as Primary Key, defaults and keep a check on the other functionality of the ETL process. 5. What are the key Benefits of ETL Testing? . Minimize the risk of the data loss . Data security . Data Accuracy . Reporting efficiency 6. What are the types of Data Warehouse Applications? . Info processing . Analytical processing . Data mining 7. What is a Three-tier Data Warehouse? Most data warehouses are considered to be a three-tier system. This is essential to their structure. . The first layer is where the data lands. This is the collection point where data from outside sources is compiled. . The second layer is known as the ‘integration layer.’ This is where the data that has been stored is transformed to meet company needs. . The third layer is called the ‘dimension layer,’ and is where the transformed information is stored for internal use. 8. What is the difference between Data Mining and Data Warehousing? . Data warehousing comes before the mining process. This is the act of gathering data from various exterior sources and organizing it into one specific location, . Data mining is when that data is analyzed and used as information for making decisions.
