In this video, I go over one of my investments in the daily dividend portfolio, SMHD. It is a very risky, 2 times leveraged fund seeking to emulate 100 high-yielding, small-cap companies. Clearly a welcoming surprise and I don't expect these gains to last very long. Nonetheless I'm glad it happened. Want to invest in M1 Finance? UBS trader Kweku Adoboli guilty of fraud over £14bn loss
A City trader who lost £1.4bn ($2.2bn) of Swiss bank UBS's money has been found guilty of two counts of fraud. Kweku Adoboli, 32, of Whitechapel, east London, denied four charges of false accounting and two of fraud between October 2008 and September 2011. The prosecution told Southwark Crown Court he was "a gamble or two away from destroying Switzerland's largest bank". Adoboli, who was cleared of four charges of false accounting, was jailed for seven years. Adoboli, who was arrested on 15 September 2011, worked in UBS's global synthetic equities division, buying and selling exchange traded funds (ETFs), which track stocks, bonds and commodities. He had joined the bank as a junior trader in 2006. The court was told Adoboli lost £1.4bn of the bank's money in "unprotected, unhedged, incautious and reckless" trades. But Adoboli, the Ghana-born son of a diplomat, told the jury his senior managers were aware of his actions and encouraged him to take risks.

How to Invest as a Vegan
How should I invest as a vegan? This is a question I've been asked a few times, and I'm excited to finally be making a video on the topic. Why save? Isn't that just for rich people? No! Biggest misconception ever. If you are on the sense about saving, please read Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez. It's the classic book on financial independence, written by a seriously down to earth couple. Check out the latest edition on Amazon: http://amzn.to/2qTgH4O (affiliate) If you're interested in saving and investing, I also strongly recommend this book by John Bogle, the founder of Vanguard: Common Sense Investing http://amzn.to/2rlAJ9G (affiliate) Socially and environmentally responsible investing is a hot topic these days. Currently you can find multiple funds that specialize in socially responsible companies. Rather than suggesting a specific fund, in this video I explain why saving and investing is important (especially for activists) and discuss several different strategies that you might want to combine as part of your investment portfolio. I am personally a huge fan of broad market index investing - Vanguard ETFs are good option for those of you living in the US or Canada. Index investing spreads your risk and frees your time so that you can focus on the issues that matter to you most, rather than constantly watch your portfolio (which is a recipe for investing disaster, since most investors aren't disciplined enough to sit back and watch the stock market plummet without selling off their shares out of sheer panic). Nothing beats index investing in terms of simplicity. But if you prefer, you can select individual companies that have values similar to your own. This can be tricky, as most companies try to portray themselves as environmentally sensitive, etc. If you do choose to go this route, be sure to read through the material on the company carefully, and play close attention to the corporation's financial stewardship - chances are if they aren't good stewards of their financial assets, they are unlikely to be socially or environmentally responsible, either. Finally, there is only one publicly traded vegan company that I know of. That's Tofutti (Ticker symbol: TOFB). I don't consider it a great stock, but if you want to invest in vegan companies, there aren't very many options. Honestly, I would personally spend my money on vegan food, and use my savings to invest in a broad market index fund. Thanks so much for watching! Did You Lose Money In UBS Etracs ETNs or MLPs?
Soreide Law Group is investigating claims against brokers who recommended UBS’ exchange traded note products that used up to 200% leverage to track MLP indexes several of which were linked commodity prices such as oil. Investors in the Etracs products and other master limited partnerships have been hit hard in 2015 with the decline in oil prices. Some investors have seen losses greater than 60%. The UBS Etracs products typically offer a higher current yield than the underlying index but the movement will be much more volatile and may not be suitable for all investors, especially retirees. Some of the UBS Etracs products that the lawyers at Soreide Law Group are investigating are MLPI and MLPL which are linked to the the Alerian MLP infrastructure index along with MLPG which is linked to the Alerian Natural gas index. These products use up to 200% leverage and may not be appropriate for all investors. If your stock broker or financial advisor recommended UBS Etracs Notes symbols MLPL, MLPI or MLPG or other oil and gas master limited partnerships call Soreide Law Group for a free consultation at 1-888-760-6552 or visit http://www.SecuritiesLawyer.com

(5YR AVG) 12:10 Recent news 14:20 Analysts’ predictions 14:50 Would I buy? 16:51 Projections, if I invested after tax & inflation General Mills (NYSE:GIS) stock is down an unsightly 25% for the year. Much of the pessimism has come thanks to lackluster earnings reports from several branded food companies, as well as the February announcement that General Mills plans to acquire the Blue Buffalo (NASDAQ:BUFF) pet products company, which many thought was an expensive move to diversify the business. The latest leg down, however, is due to a different problem, and one that can't be so easily fixed. Inflation takes a toll General Mills reported its fiscal third-quarter earnings on March 21. While the company beat analyst expectations on both the top and bottom lines, the bad news was in the guidance, specifically, the company's FY 2018 outlook for cost of goods sold. Management now expects these input costs to be up 4% for the fiscal year ending in May, one percentage point higher than it had previously guided, and will contribute to operating profit declines of 5%-6%. Increasing costs for commodities such as grains, fruits, and nuts are having an impact, but the real hurt has been in skyrocketing freight costs -- the costs to ship products to retail outlets. Higher oil prices, surging demand, and a shortage of drivers have caused trucking costs to rapidly increase. "We're now having to go out to the spot market for close to 20% of our shipments versus the historic average of about 5%, and those spot market prices can be 30% to 60% higher than our contracted rates," said CEO Jeffrey Harmening during the conference call with analysts. Can General Mills cope? The problem of inflation is the reason Warren Buffett has long touted the merits of buying franchises with pricing power -- the ability to raise prices without sacrificing sales. However, it looks increasingly unlikely that General Mills -- or any of the other consumer packaged-goods companies, for that matter -- will be able to meaningfully raise prices without sacrificing volume. That's because its core brands, which are mostly in the nonprotein processed food category, have much less clout than in the past. General Mills brands include Chex, Pillsbury, Wheaties, Green Giant, and many more. Consumers have a much wider array of choices now, including healthier and organic offerings on the high end, and increasingly popular private-label brands from big retailers. --------------------------------------- Hey there, I'm Ken Kernen. I built this channel around dividend growth investing (DGI). Unlike most YouTubers, I'm educating you on specifically on dividend growth investing because DGI... • Is an incredible source of passive income & cash flow • Can position you to cover all expenses with dividends • Can position you for early financial freedom • Can give you flexibility & options AND Bank of America study showed from 1926, for 90 years value stocks have returned 17% per year while growth stocks have returned 12.6%. DGI is in the middle! FACT: If You… • Invest $15k per year in dividend growth stocks • With a 7% dividend growth rate • With a starting yield of 3% • Reinvest dividends • For 24 years… Then • $60,000 per year in passive income • That's AFTER tax & inflation And even if one stopped reinvesting dividends, and adding investments, you'll hit $100,000 in passive income after another 15 years, from the dividend growth rate. --------------------------------------- Be sure to like, comment, and subscribe for SIMPLIFIED & ACTIONABLE guides for dividend growth investing (DGI), stock market investing, personal finance and more. HUGE NEWS: UBS Advises Take Delivery of PHYSICAL Gold & Silver!!!!!
A new research report by UBS clearly states there is a "trend" towards allocated precious metals in 2010. Folks, "allocated" essentially means PHYSICAL. This is a big deal and it is further evidence that Adrian Douglas and GATA are correct; There IS a run on the LBMA (and likely the COMEX too) for physical gold and silver. ETFmatic Videoblog: Are index funds becoming too popular?
Robin Powell Ben Johnson - Morningstar RP: Hello there. Index funds are a very efficient way to invest. They allow ordinary investors to gain exposure to a large number of securities at very low cost. Passively managed funds have grown in popularity in recent years — so much so, in fact, that some argue we may be heading for an indexing bubble. So, is this something investors should be worried about? Ben Johnson, Director of Passive Funds Research at Morningstar, says not. BJ: If you look at the growth of passive investing, it’s clear why these concernes have been raised, because passive investing, index funds, exchange traded funds have been growing at a pace that has far outstripped the growth of traditionally actively managed funds. Now that said these are by definition very low activity managed funds. So the real concern should be, who is doing price setting at the margin? Does it continue to be well informed, well equipped active managers, or is ti just passive funds that are blindly buying securities that are setting out to track the index? These low activity, low turnover funds are actually doing a very tiny fraction of the actual trading in securities markets, which is where actual price discovery is taking place, where prices are being set. RP: Passive funds are still far less popular than active funds. But that’s changing fast. The ratings agency Moody’s has predicted that, in the US, passive could overtake active by 2021 — and will certainly do so 2024. But even then, Ben Johnson says there’ll be far more room for passive investing to grow without having to worry about any adverse effects on the markets. BJ: I would argue that passives can grow a fairly long way. They have a long runway from where they stand today before you might see any real, meaningful effect on price discovery, on capital formation, on the underlying securities prices. I think these fears, with respect to passives affect on the overall market are quite overblown. I think they are being fanned by frankly those who are threatened by them, whose territory is being encroached upon, which is high cost, high turnover active managers. RP: That’s all for now. Thank you to Ben Johnson, and to you, for watching. Until next time, goodbye. Is It Too Late to Buy Puts on Gold ETFs?
http://www.options-trading-education.com/24210/is-it-too-late-to-buy-puts-on-gold-etfs/ Is It Too Late to Buy Puts on Gold ETFs? By www.Options-Trading-Education.com The glory days of gold have come and gone. Is it too late to buy puts on gold ETFs? Many gold investors and traders prefer buying and selling shares of gold exchange traded funds as opposed to taking delivery of bars of gold bullion, paying for storage and having to deliver them again to sell. The beauty of options on gold is that you do not even need to buy or sell shares of an ETF. The issue today is if gold will continue to fall. According to Seeking Alpha, today investors flee gold ETFs. Investors have continued to reduce their exposure to gold as the dollar strengthened to new highs in March. Inflation fears have largely abated and gold's spot price has declined by 39% from its all-time high of $1,921.17 in September 2011. The decline in the precious metal, which is currently trading at $1182.40, has coincided with a strengthening US dollar which has benefited from the US economic recovery. The US Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates later this year which will drive the value of the dollar higher and likely drive gold lower. So, is it too late to buy puts on gold ETFs? It Is All about Interest Rates Investors.com is more positive about gold and gold ETFs. Their take on gold ETFs is that it is all about interest rates. Exchange traded funds holding the beleaguered bullion surged late last week on dovish Fed signals. With an imminent rate hike all but ruled out, the largest ETF tracking the yellow metal, SDPR Gold Shares (ARCA:GLD), popped 2% in Wednesday trade. It's risen further since. "The biggest thing that impacts gold in dollar terms is interest rates," says gold expert Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors. Any upward or downward shift in rates ripples through what Holmes describes as the "fear trade" in bullion. To the extent that the Fed holds off in raising rates gold will go up a little as will gold ETFs. When rates do go up gold and gold ETFs will suffer. If you get the timing right puts on Gold ETFs could be profitable. Not Just ETFs If you expect gold to go down puts on ETFs may be profitable but also puts on gold stocks will work as well. The NASDAQ Stock Options Channel highlights one put option and one call option on Barrick Gold Corp. Consistently, one of the more popular stocks people enter into their stock options watchlist at Stock Options Channel is Barrick Gold Corp. (Symbol: ABX). So this week we highlight one interesting put contract, and one interesting call contract, from the January 2016 expiration for ABX. The put contract our YieldBoost algorithm identified as particularly interesting, is at the $10 strike, which has a bid at the time of this writing of 61 cents. Collecting that bid as the premium represents a 6.1% return against the $10 commitment, or an 8% annualized rate of return (at Stock Options Channel we call this the YieldBoost ). Read the article for the details. The point of all this is that gold is not going a lot higher any time soon and there is the potential for a steep fall in gold prices denominated in dollars as the US economy continues to recover. It is probably not too late to buy puts on gold ETFs. http://youtu.be/Uioz1LCJvPo
