What is going on with TAFE SA?

06:36
TAFE SA's Chairman has been sacked and students uncertain about their education. After an ASQA audit of 16 courses, 14 were suspended for being substandard. Peter Vaughan has been removed from his position as TAFE SA Chair and Pauline Denley has been appointed as his replacement. Vaughan's departure follows the Australian Skills Quality Authority audit which resulted in many students no longer able to enrol in the affected courses. Approximately 800 plumbing, hairdressing, building, cookery, construction and aged care students could also face potential reassessment. TAFE SA Tonsley students have been quoted as being a bit angry. The affected students potentially have to undertake an additional study before they achieve their certificates. The Australian Skills Quality Authority report released on Monday found three trainers and assessors from TAFE’S plumbing course did not have the knowledge or skills to teach various parts of the curriculum. As a result, TAFE SA has suspended new enrolments in the course — along with 13 other Certificate and Diploma courses. Dr Close said the review into TAFE SA, by Nous Group, “will be undertaken as quickly as possible” but it will “take as long as it needs to." It was unlikely to finish before classes start next year, she said. “It’s highly likely that more courses have problems,” Dr Close said. “That’s the evidence not only from the initial audit but, now having had the report on Tuesday, we need to act swiftly. Everything points to a wider problem." “A comprehensive audit of every course would take an extremely long time. If they (Nous) recommend that is necessary, then we can look at that.” tafe sa news, What is going on with Tafe SA, Tafe SA sacked Tafe SA problems, Tafe Courses, Tafe SA courses.

MINING ENGINEER MIGRATING FROM PHILIPPINES TO AUSTRALIA

03:39
Mabuhay! This video is presented by Jose Respall, the principal of Respall Migration Australia which was founded in 1999. If you are a Filipino Mining Engineer working in the Philippines or overseas in a country outside Australia here is a great opportunity for you. A chance to further your career in Australia. It is a land of opportunity with higher wages and a wonderful relaxed way of life. Joseis a registered migration agent who specialises in Australian immigration. The first step involves reading the first 4 chapters of Jose Respall's book Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines. The book captures his 14 years of Australian immigration experience. Respall has made the first 4 chapters available in a downloadable e-book from the website at http://www.respall.com/. He has included real life Australian immigration case studies, hints and tips on how to migrate to Australia, technical information and the all-important code of conduct. The video outlines the process to receiving a visa to live in Australia. The Mining Engineer applicant must attend a review for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at Respall Migration Australia Manila. This is done to help the applicant to pass it. The engineer is shown the Competency Demonstration Report (CDR) which is a requirement of Engineers Australia to prove the applicant has the experience to work in Australia. Respall Migration Australia documentation specialists assist the Mining Engineer with each document to make sure it is correct - this includes improving their CV to Australian standards. Engineers Australia is the assessing authority for engineers who migrate to Australia from the Philippines. Once the IELTS test has been passed and Engineers Australia has provided a favourable letter the next step is for Respall Migration Australia to prepare an Expression of Interest and lodge it with the Department of Immigration and Boarder Protection (DIPB). The department sends specific instructions regarding the engineer application for Australian immigration and Respall Migration Australia help the Mining Engineer to complete the requests. Once those requirements are met the department issues a visa grant for the engineer and their family members - if they are included in the application for Australian immigration. To start this whole process a Filipino Mining Engineer must email their CV to Respall Migration Australia for assessment. Engineers living in the Philippines can meet Respall Migration Australia in their Makati City office; those further away can Skype. The complete book Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines will officially be launched in May 2014 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Respall Migration Australia. Respall Migration Australian principal Jose Respall says there is a real minefield when it comes to Australian immigration. Engineers being highly skilled professionals sometimes attempt to prepare their own visa applications but they can't be expected to know the Migration Act and keep up with Australian government changes to legislation which occur several times a year. One wrong answer or incorrect document can jeopardise the entire application. The other danger is the many unscrupulous and corrupt individuals who promise to help but really are only interested in taking the applicant's money and disappearing. Some have masqueraded as migration agents. The end result is usually the visa applicant losing a lot of money for no gain. Respall Migration Australia stresses the need for a genuine and valid visa application for Australian immigration. A Filipino Mining Engineer has peace of mind knowing that Jose Respall, who is located in Sydney, Australia, is a registered migration agent as is the manager of his operation based in the Philippines and they must abide by the Code of Conduct as a breach of the code would see their licence being removed. A copy of the code of conduct is provided by Respall Migration Australia to their clients. Use this link Respall http://www.respall.com/ to get your copy of the first 4 chapters of Avoiding The Migration Minefield - How To Migrate To Australia From The Philippines and start your journey to a new and better life! This is our story - Richard Denniss

02:41
Australian economist, Dr Richard Denniss, believes the coal boom is very good news for the coal industry but really bad news for the manufacturing sector, tourism and agriculture. While it's been billed as the financial saviour of the nation, Dr Denniss reminds us that the "economy" is something that needs to work for over 22 million Australians and over a million businesses. So which bits of the economy is the coal boom good for? Eighty-three per cent of coal industry is foreign owned, so the profits from this boom are headed overseas. There are deals being done to ensure foreign workers get employed in mining in Western Australia and Queensland. Locally, workers that are flown in and flown out of mining towns get such big wages that local businesses, manufacturing industries, and community building services such as teaching, nursing and policing can't compete, and are struggling to find workers. Dr Denniss reminds us of the most basic principle in all good economies; don't put all your eggs in one basket "Last year 63 per cent of all investment went into the mining industry. But the mining industry only employs two per cent of our workforce. So we're putting our whole future faith in the fact that this mining boom is going to continue, so we've put all our eggs in one basket." "Booms end," says Denniss. "That's why it's risky to hollow out our manufacturing industry, hollow out our communities, and literally bet the country on the mining boom going forever. History tells us that booms are fun on the way up but no fun on the way down."

Perspectives on Native Representations Symposium: Keynote Speaker Panel

01:05:05
Friday, February 20, 2015 Perspectives on Native Representations Symposium: Keynote Speaker Panel Dr. Adrienne Keene, Migizi Penseneau & Matika Wilbur While the history between Native peoples and representations of identity projected upon them (having been replicated and reinforced in popular culture) is layered and complex, the rise of technology and social media has ushered in an era of accessible activism that pushes against this history. Native peoples across the world now have practicable, highly visible modes to express unique voices that challenge and redefine how Natives are represented both internal and external of their communities. "Perspectives on Native Representations" seeks to highlight the multiple contexts through which representations of Native communities, culture and individuals are being shifted and re-imagined. Sponsored by UC Berkeley's Native American Student Development. Co-sponsored by the Joseph A. Myers Center for Research on Native American Issues.

Getting Your Training Provider Accreditation Status In South Africa

23:13
I've been working in the training industry for a long while and am at a stage now where I feel I can dispense good advise to the point that I've included accreditation information sessions to our service offering. It goes without saying that if you are looking to become an accredited training provider it is best to do your home work first. Research is crucial for planning otherwise you will have either fail or get your accreditation at very great cost. To help you with this step you can start with our website for information on our popular breakfast workshop. Each accrediting body will have its own set of criteria's that you will have to comply with prior to your company being accepted. In South Africa your options of accreditation bodies to name a few are: UMelusi, the industry specific SETA ETQA's and the Council for Higher Education. Once you are accredited with one or more of these bodies, you will also have regular reviews or annual re accreditation meetings to assess your compliance and management of your Quality Management System so that you can keep your accredited status. There are 27 SETA's ETQA's in SA, all of which offer training providers the option to become accredited and once accredited you will be able to offer accredited qualifications that are recognized in the various areas and related industry fields. IMPORTANT things to remember Check out what you competitors are doing as well as which accrediting bodies are leaders of the pack within your field. I cannot stress how important this step is because not all awarding agencies have expedient process. You don't want to be told about backlogs six months after submitting your application. The wheels can turn that slowly. So compare apples with apples and make sure you pick the best of the bunch. Even if you will have a consultant facilitating the accreditation for you, I would recommend setting up an action plan to match the criteria you will be expected to maintain. This should essentially be a bullet point summary of your Quality Management System (QMS). Start as you mean to go on prepare and set up robust systems, data collection processes, paper work, qualifications, teaching plans, schemes of work etc doing this in detail at the beginning is crucial for you to maintain the criteria and keeping your accredited status easily. Not doing so is detrimental to not only the operation and success of your business in the long term but also to your reputation which is dependent on your clients from the onset. Once the awarding body receives your application and confirmation of receipt has been given to you, they will review your details. At this point they will send you notification of a site visit and if all the relevant criteria is met and approved (i.e venue, learning program, QMS, ETD staff, etc) then you will most probably be granted Provisional Accreditation status. This means you are given a specified amount of time to apply everything you declared you would in your QMS and upon a verification visit (normally at the end of your first year as an accredited provider from SETA's) you would receive your full accreditation status. Marketing your new accreditation When you achieve your Provisional status make you need to make sure you shout it from the roof tops. Write newsletters and press articles, email, call and visit your existing customers and your potential customers, tell everyone you know use your social media. Try offering a free taster / breakfast or lunch so that you can launch your new courses and generate early interest. Invite your key customers and new customers you are trying to engage with. Ask your customers to bring one of their customers along that may find the courses of interest Now you have promoted your initial launch make sure you add your new courses to your marketing plan and carry out consistent marketing to maintain interest. Make sure that your marketing material includes a strong purposeful call to action. That is my two cents worth with regards to accreditation at the moment. Decolonizing Language Revitalization

01:56:24
September 25, 2013 - How has Eurocentric anthropology and linguistics affected the way we interpret our elders and ancestors who share their cultural knowledge with foreign researchers? Join us for a presentation with Khelsilem Rivers and April Charlo, indigenous peoples from community-based and cultural revitalization backgrounds, who will be discussing decolonization of language revitalization. Their presentation and open dialogue will address the context of rapid language loss and decline, and how colonization has affected or is embedded in the strategies of revitalization. In an effort to revitalize Indigenous languages, communities may have unknowingly adopted or assimilated colonized ways of thinking as they invest interest and attempt to repair or restore ties to culture and language. Are we learning to speak Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Nēhiyawēwin, Kanien'kéha, et all with an English-mind or are we learning to speak Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Nēhiyawēwin, Kanien'kéha with a Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Nēhiyaw, Kanien'keháka mind? Indigenous languages represent one of the darkest ways in which ethnocide and cultural genocide have occurred. It is expected in the next twenty-five years over 700 of the worlds Indigenous languages will be forgotten. In the Vancouver area alone, the two Indigenous languages are considered critical endangered; Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) language has five to seven fluent speakers and hən̓q̓əmin̓əm has one fluent speaker left. Decolonizing Language Revitalization aims to put forward perspectives of shifting values, cultural understandings, and impacts on community. It is the stories we tell ourselves (as a people) that impacts who we believe we are, and then who we become. But if the stories -- even including, or especially the Indigenous ones -- are filtered through colonialism, we have become a different people because of it. April Charlo from Bitterroot Salish people and is a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Montana. Khelsilem Rivers is a Sḵwx̱wú7mesh-Kwakwa̱ka̱'wakw language revitalization activist from Vancouver.
