Old School Runescape - Optimized Gem Rock Mining Route
I had this vid unlisted for a while and figured I might as well make it public. From my testing, this is the most efficient pathing route for mining and banking gem rocks. I calculated this path to be the least amount of ticks spent per gem obtained. However, it's entirely possible there's a better route, seeing as there are so many possibilities to test. As for an xp rate, I was able to achieve over 60k xp/hr at higher mining levels (90+), although I never gathered a specific average. To my understanding, this should be the fastest way to obtain the golem pet as well as clue scrolls through mining. If you truly do not care about the gems, there is most likely a better path to take, assuming you drop gems between each rock. I have no idea what kind of profit/hr to expect from the gems, but there's a ton of videos showing decent enough sample sizes to make an estimate.

The Water Belle Mine - Part 2
The origins of the Water Belle actually stretch back to another mine – a massive shaft – that was located about a mile and a half above the Water Belle. This shaft had struck an ancient river channel that turned out to be full of gold and the mine was expanding rapidly in order to continue to profit from their fortunate discovery. However, disaster struck in 1895, when a reservoir of underground water from a neighboring mine that had been abandoned was opened up during blasting, causing a massive blowout that flooded the entire shaft. The miners underground at the time rode displaced timbers up to the top of the shaft as the floodwaters surged forth and were fortunate to escape with their lives (As an interesting “Oh by the way” - very rich ore that was stockpiled underground in this mine still rests there to this day). Following this disaster, ownership of the shaft and surrounding claims transferred to two brothers – Henry and James Bell – from Glasgow, Scotland. The brothers were also the owners of a successful shipbuilding firm in Glasgow and Henry (later Sir Henry) was a member of Parliament. James remained in Glasgow, while Henry lived in London where the operation of the Water Belle was also directed from. Determined to get back to the ancient river channel that had been discovered, efforts were soon commenced to drive a tunnel in to the channel rather than to attempt another shaft. First, it was necessary to create an extensive flume system in order to divert a creek that flows directly where they desired to begin the tunnel. The construction of this flume took most of the summer of 1897 to complete. With the creek re-routed, work started on an 8’ x 8’ tunnel straight through the bedrock. It took more than a year of dynamiting through hard rock before the crews finally hit the ancient river channel they were seeking, more than a mile in. However, the hard work soon paid off as the gravel from the ancient channel provided a very attractive return on their investment. With about 50 miners working during the summer and 30-35 during the winter, the channel was then worked in a northerly direction for about 4,000 feet, with a final incline reaching a depth of 300 feet below the level of the tunnel. Many side drifts with smaller inclines branched off from this section as well. This northerly drift pushed farther in to the ancient river channel than any other mines had reached before and the findings were incredibly rich. Apparently, no one had discovered the main channel before and all other mines in the area that had been attempting to hit the channel were merely hitting tributaries of the main channel. Plans were underway to drive a new tunnel into even more lucrative ground in the main channel, but World War I forced the shutdown of the Water Belle as workers were sent off to war and commercial cable communications between England and the USA were blocked during this time (preventing coordination with London). Further, transportation of gold to the United Kingdom was not allowed during this time either. The mine never re-opened after 1914. A serious effort was planned in the late 1920s to get the mine opened up again, but one of the main investors committed suicide after losing everything in the 1929 crash and this effort was abandoned. The site – 2, 568 acres of patented property – was purchased by a timber company in 1970 for slightly over $200,000 and they still own it today. A mining company attempted to open the mine again around 1980 and did some preliminary work on the site. However, an air shaft they drilled ended up repeatedly closing in as the surrounding rock swelled. Unable to overcome this obstacle to their efforts, the company eventually abandoned the project. The Water Belle was just starting to break in to the most lucrative section of the ancient river channel when World War I forced the closure of the mine. As such, all of this immensely valuable gravel is still waiting underground.

Highgrader Chet prestigitates quartz crystals
"Highgrader" is a traditional old hard-rock miners' term for a contract miner who robs the mine owner of the best ore, specimens, or Gem stock, usually secreted into a pocket, lunch box, or boot. Paid $100/day to dig and assist a disabled veteran and his wife, greed again got the "Best of Mr. Blunt" and Video Does Not Lie. Not only had the mining claim been violated by him previously [caught in the Act- other video], without the owner's permission but the owner's own legitimate Amethyst production, contracted to be facet cut into gems by this guy, was "Highgraded", with cheap Russian Synthetic quartz substituted for the $100,000 worth of finished Domestic Gemstones the mine owner had every right to expect. Clip posted with permission of Old Tombstone Studio, it's an out-take from a new expedition video series. Also used as an educational and instructive video in the "HIGHGRADERS" Indie Film Project. For entertainment purposes. Karma has smiled on the patient mine owner, who has a NEW 2008 STRIKE! The new Arizona mine only needs a grubstake, the mine owner will Grant an honest share. Highgraders need not apply!

Diamonds: click "More From This User" to get that "how to" film. This film is about finding gold. Gold diving. Use of the hookah rig to find gold. Gold flakes, nuggets, and platinum nuggets are shown. Gold and platinum are 15-19 times heavier than other streambed materials and concentrate in low pressure areas and cracks that run across rivers and streams. You look for a crack on the bank, and follow it out until you meet the "gold line" and there you suck it out with your dredge. Gold will be on the outside edge of a river gravel bar, at the head of the bar (large gold but usually beneath big boulders), and at the tail end of a bar (vast concentrations due to river bars forming in the shape of an airfoil and sucking fine gold to the tail end) but be small to microscopic at the tail end. Gold will travel down a river or stream in a line, usually off center of the high pressure water. Gold will settle behind a boulder. A good place to fish, can also be an excellent place to find gold. "Black sand" is iron ore that can be readilly identified in gravel bars and is a ready indicator that gold is probably present. The most effective and economical way for the average person to find paying concentrations of gold in a river or stream is with a simple ($80) sluice that you shovel into and the riffles retain gold, platinum, gems and anything heavy for you. Gold can be found up high on the old river channels and recovered with metal detectors, a gold wheel, a highbanker, or simply by identifying the material, shoveling it in your truck and working it out later in a wheel, or your simple stream sluice. The states which have gold in vast quantities are: Maine, Vermont, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, California, Idaho, Washington, Montana, and Oregon. The rest have gold as well, some in very good concentrations. All have gems of some kind that a sluice will seperate and hold. Good luck finding the gold of your dreams!
