lyrics When you're asleep they may show you Aerial views of the ground, Freudian slumber empty of sound. Over the rooftops and houses, Lost as it tries to be seen, Fields of incentive covered with green. Mesmerised children are playing, Meant to be seen but not heard, "Stop me from dreaming!" "Don't be absurd!" "Well if we can help you we will, You're looking tired and ill. As I count backwards Your eyes become heavier still. Sleep, won't you allow yourself fall? Nothing can hurt you at all. With your consent I can experiment further still." Madrigal music is playing, Voices can faintly be heard, "Please leave this patient undisturbed." Sentenced to drift far away now, Nothing is quite what it seems, Sometimes entangled in your own dreams. "Well, if we can help you we will, Soon as you're tired and ill. With your consent We can experiment further still. Well, thanks to our kindness and skill You'll have no trouble until You catch your breath And the nurse will present you the bill!" Made in Windows Movie Maker I do not own pictures or music..

"Entangled" was released on Genesis' seventh studio album, A Trick Of The Tail, in February 1976. A Trick Of The Tail was the first album to feature drummer Phil Collins as lead vocalist, following Peter Gabriel's departure. The album was recorded at Relight Studios and mixed at Trident Studios in October/November 1975. It also marked the first album that the band would co-produce with David Hentschel. They would work with Hentschel for the n Back in the day when these 3 records were current, it was sacrilege in some circles to state a preference for the post-Gabriel Genesis (still is in some of those circles!), however I'm proud to say that I've always been among those rabid fans of this mid-period sting of albums starting with early 1976's A Trick Of The Tail, late 1976's Wind And Wuthering, and 1978's ...And Then There Were Three. I believe they produced some of the most beautiful progressive music by any band ever during this period....of course I still listen to both early period and later period work by the band, but none of it comes close to the stuff they did in the mid to late 70's. I think I've mentioned it before on some of my Genesis videos but it bears repeating... ***If you are as much a fan of this music as I am, and if you want to experience something mindblowingly beautiful....this music enveloping you in sound like you've never experienced it before ....buy a DVDA - SACD player and listen to it in 5.1.....one word; OMG! ;-) A Trick of the Tail reached No.3 in the UK, remaining on the charts for 39 weeks, and No.31 in the US. Additionally, the album was certified Gold in the US by the RIAA in March 1990. Also according to Tony Banks in the essay that comes with Platinum Collection, the album doubled the band's previous albums sales. This success was also financially crucial for Genesis who were $400,000 in debt by the time Peter Gabriel left. This is the seventh video I've made for a Genesis song (and the second for a track from A Trick of the Tail..see "Ripples" https://youtu.be/iS6jt0ATanE .....other video links below lyrics. I was mostly finished with "Mad Man Moon" (coming soon) and during editing I ended up with some effects that needed to go, and which I thought I'd use for a foundation for "Entangled" (mainly the clip of the kayak guy which I thought was a nice match to the rhythm and feel of the song). The image of the row houses is something I originally worked on for BOC's "Morning Final" and then used heavily in The Waterboys' "Old England"....THEN held up on finishing those videos when I realized the image would work PERFECTLY with that little ditty from Wind and Wuthering (can you guess which one? LOL!).....now after holding on to the image for years to make the impact I hoped for....I end up using it in "Entangled"? LOL! Hint: you will see it featured again! ;-) Hope you enjoy the effort! As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who's art made this new art possible...THANK YOU!!!!! This is a very simple video I created to the song Fading Lights by the band Genesis, from their album We Can't Dance released in 1991. I gathered images from sunsets (which reminds me of an actual fading light) and a few taken by me. This is a very nice song and I personally think that these pictures fit very well with it. Enjoy! Demo from August 1968 From 'Genesis Archive 1967-1975' (1998) Written by Tony Banks/Peter Gabriel/Anthony Phillips/Mike Rutherford LYRICS: People moving about the town upside down, you know why Little bits of coloured glass in the sky Children pushing Mummy down to the park, in a pram Look out the pavement's changing to jam See them running Now where are they going to To follow them, leads you nowhere Shout to them quickly but no one can hear you All they can do is to stare Your bowler hats are turning green Your city suits are coloured cream You, you who changed my life You made it misery, sadness reins alone Wonder why you do this, to me When I've tried so hard for you People talking to the man who's digging a hole, in his mind He's no need to worry, he's deaf and blind See the dustman doing his round in a Rolls made of glass He's gained everything because he's got class Friends are leaving me when I did everything Just as they used to behave Trying to copy them, losing my real self Floating away in a cloud Your minds have blown you out of step The rules you taught you never kept You, you who changed my life You made it misery, sadness reins alone Wonder why you do this, to me When I've tried so hard for you -uploaded in HD at http://www.TunesToTube.com

In my opinion, the version by Phil Collins is the most sweet and warm. What is your opinion? DISCLAIMER:"These videos were made for promotional purposes. I held the book so tightly in my hands, I saw your picture, heard you call my name There was something strange, I could not look away I wanted to be there, I wanted to go You gave me no warning You gave no reason But I was with you Right by your side Just give me the strength, and I will help you And they can try their hardest, cos they don't frighten me It is written in the book It is hotter than I've known before, but I feel so cold, and I don't know why But if the fire within your heart can beat the storm Then I really believe, you could make it right Ooh the time has come now We must show our feelings But I'm looking right through you And your heart is empty Whatever happened to you it's too late to change now There's nowhere you can run to, no place to hide Ah you let me down! ...but wait a minute, I don't understand It's getting stronger, so grab my hand Don't wanna leave you, don't wanna go But I'm losing all control Can't you see me? I'm slipping away I can only stay if you've the will to keep me here It is written in the book Oh so many times since then I've read those words Just waiting to see you, can you see me?

This monumental effort brings you the mirrors tour as never seen before. Based on a tip from André Garnath, I searched, contacted, and met the filmer Pete Shapter near my home town in Ohio, at a hotel between our cities of Cleveland and Columbus, to find the largest collection of reels I have ever seen or even heard of for one performance. Pete filmed the show at Ohio State University in St. John Arena, where security was not very strict. About halfway through the show when he was filming behind the stage they threatened to take his reels, but in the end let him keep them and continue. I don't believe these views could be filmed with the heavy security at most venues. But to be safe Pete gave finished reels to his brother in case security tried to confiscate them, and continued to film the rest of the show further away from the front. He filmed 17 reels of super 8mm film with the rare audio on the reels (only about 5% of super 8mm film sold had audio). The audio quality is nice for 8mm but suffered from inconsistent speed and skips common with 8mm reels, also the bandwidth is similar to AM radio (only about 10kHz). There is another audio source for this date, but the quality is actually worse than the reels and is incomplete. A match is not good if it cannot be heard. So I decided to overlay audio from Chicago three days later (TMAV version) in 2-channel uncompressed PCM 48K format. Coupling this audio with the film gives a real feel of what it was like to see a show in 1978. Of course the two performances are a little different and I did my best to sync the two and the match is very close. Pete walked around the stage to get front, left side, right side, and (quite interestingly) rear stage views...to see Chester, a monster on the drums! The image held up nicely to these changes in view, with the only major difficulty being the 1978 light show. Sometimes the band was *drenched* in color, followed by a few seconds of dark green, a harsh spotlight, and near darkness with a laser. This causes a problem for the transfer because dark scenes can get too bright while the computer searches for an image, and bright scenes can lose all definition despite turning down the exposure all the way. I accounted for these changes with separate keyframes (settings) as the lighting changed. I also used two separate transfers with different light settings to get the most out of each scene. The results are worth it (to my eyes) as we can see many details in the dark and still not overexpose the brighter moments. From what I can tell by looking at the filmstock, Pete used fresh Ektachrome 160, which is great for indoors. Unfortunately for most of the vocals, Phil is overexposed by the spotlight, but this is the reality for 8mm. Apparently, Ektachrome reversal doesn't have the best "light latitude"...it can't make out details in a bright light on a dark stage so strong spotlights often show up as pure white, and Ektachrome is generally high contrast and high color saturation. I reduced the exposure as much as possible to see things in spotlights, but cannot go beyond the capability of the film/camera setting. The film itself was in really nice shape, and we are treated to a 17% (1.55) widescreen. There was some damage to the emulsion, lines and spots here and there, but compared to most 34 year old film, Pete took really great care of it. There were 2 spots where damage affected the film motion, but I tried my best to hide this, shifting the image down as the film shuttered up (for example) or otherwise substituting good frames for bad. I have transferred and edited well over 100 reels of 8mm, but I typically only see 2-5 reels from a show, where I can examine the frames in great detail. These 17 reels were a major undertaking for me and took months of work. But I am glad I was able to give this important film the effort it deserved, and not just "any old transfer". Thanks to André Garnath for the tip on the film, to Pete Shapter for trusting his films to a stranger he met at a hotel, to TM and AV for their audio, Willem for reviewing some early versions, and to Genesis for putting on an amazing show that holds real spirit some 34 years later. Sorry, this description got really long... genesismuseum.com

Home By The Sea è una canzone dei Genesis estratta dal Live a Düsseldorf nonchè a Roma nel concerto del 2007. Ecco il testo. Creeping up the blind side, shinning up the wall Stealing through the dark of night Climbing through a window, stepping to the floor Checking to the left and the right Picking up the pieces, putting them away Something doesn't feel quite right Help me someone, let me out of here Then out of the dark was suddenly heard Welcome to the Home by the Sea Coming out the woodwork, through the open door Pushing from above and below Shadows without substance, in the shape of men Round and down and sideways they go Adrift without direction, eyes that hold despair Then as one they sign and they moan Help us someone, let us out of here Living here so long undisturbed Dreaming of the time we were free So many years ago Before the time when we first heard Welcome to the Home by the Sea Sit down, sit down As we relive our lives in what we tell you Images of sorrow, pictures of delight Things that go to make up a life Endless days of summer longer nights of gloom Waiting for the morning light Scenes of unimportance like photos in a frame Things that go to make up a life Help us someone, let us out of here Living here so long undisturbed Dreaming of the time we were free So many years ago Before the time when we first heard Welcome to the Home by the Sea Sit down, sit down As we relive our lives in what we tell you Let us relive our lives in what we tell you Sit down sit down Cause you won't get away So with us you will stay For the rest of your days. so sit down As we relive our lives in what we tell you Let us relive our lives in what we tell you 🏆 Do you like instrumental music ? This song was a gift to my dad on his 50th birthday. He's a lifelong Genesis fan and I guess it rubbed off on me a little bit. Very fun to do this one. Unlike many of the other cover versions of this song on youtube (some of which are very nicely done), it's done in a slightly newer style. I can't sing too well so I auto-tuned the hell outta my voice. I also can't use iMovie too well either it seems, and couldn't figure out how to get the picture to just sit still so you get this kinda trippy zoom/ripple effect that happens every few seconds. Sounds much better on headphones or nice speakers rather than tiny little computer speakers or earphones, but then again so does everything. Enjoy!

"Many Too Many" https://youtu.be/hChBK-SzeOg "Many Too Many" was released by Genesis in the spring of 1978 on ...And Then There Were Three, which was the band's ninth album. FROM WIKI: The title ...And Then There Were Three... comes from a verse of the children's rhyme "Ten Little Indians" ("Four little Injuns up on a spree, One got fuddled and then there were three"); is a reference to the recent departure of Steve Hackett, reducing Genesis to a trio (which would result in their longest unchanged line-up, which lasted until 1996). The album reached No.3 in the UK Albums Chart, and remained in the charts for 32 weeks having been bolstered by the UK Top 10 success of "Follow You Follow Me", which also became Genesis' first hit US single. ...And Then There Were Three... reached No.14 on the US chart, becoming their first Gold (eventually Platinum) album there. While many of the songs were still progressive in terms of instrumentation and lyrics, the arrangements went from the more classical, movement-style composition of previous albums to the more standard verse/chorus/bridge format of popular songwriting. This was the final Genesis album to use a Mellotron, which is used on just one track, "Many Too Many". A digitally remastered version was released on CD in 1994 on Virgin in Europe and Atlantic in the US and Canada. The booklet on the remaster features the lyrics although, the gatefold picture is missing. A SACD / DVD double disc set (including new 5.1 and Stereo mixes) was released on 2 April 2007. It was released as a CD / DVD double disc set in the US and Canada. The LP sleeve cover was designed by Hipgnosis, the design studio founded by Storm Thorgerson (best known for his work with Led Zeppelin, UFO and Pink Floyd). In an interview, Thorgerson called the design a "failure", and described the concept being conveyed: We were trying to tell a story by the traces left by the light trails. It was a torch, a car, and a man with a cigarette. The band was losing members and there were only three of them left. The lyrics of the songs were about comings and goings and we tried to describe this in photographic terms by using time-lapse. So there's a car going off to one side and then the guy gets out of the car, walks over to the front of it, and lights a cigarette. But as he walks he uses a torch and the car he was in leaves. There's a trail left by the car, a trail left by him as he's walking and then he lights a cigarette, which on the cover is where there's a flash of his face. END WIKI. ...And Then There Were Three was the last of the string of three mid-period Genesis albums that have always been my favorites by the group. I used to play one of these albums many of the nights during the late seventies. They were the kind of records best listened to on headphones, in solitude....late at night. I still listen to them and they haven't lost any of their magic. This was progressive rock at it's finest. Had been working on something for another track from ...And Then There Were Three and ended up with an effect (the colorful particle swirl used at the beginning, the solo and the end) which didn't really fit, so I decided to do something for another song featuring that effect. Plugged it into "Many Too Many" and worked up a few other things for this relatively short song...a great tune and probably the simplest track from the album to video. Hope you enjoy it. As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who's art contributed to this new art....THANK YOU!!! [Lyrics] Many too many have stood where I stand Many more will stand here too, I think what I find strange is the way you built me up Then knocked me down again. The part was fun but now it's over, Why can't I just leave the stage? Maybe that's because you securely locked me up Then threw away the key. Oh mama, Please would you find the key. Oh pretty mama, Please won't you let me go free. I thought I was lucky I thought that I'd got it made. How could I be so blind? You said good-bye on a corner That I thought led to the straight. You set me on a firmly laid and simple course Then removed the road. Oh mama, Please help me find my way. Oh pretty mama, Please lead me through the next day. I thought I was lucky Oh I thought that I'd got it made. How could I be so blind? Oh no... phil tony banks rutherford

THIS VIDEO IS APPROVED BY THE ARTIST, STEVE HACKETT I love listening to the entirety of Hackett's Genesis Revisited II release. I especially love the songs by singer Nad Sylvan and listening to all three together. So, I put several of my own pictures together from the first USA mainland gig of Genesis Revisited II frim April 1st 2013, along with all 3 songs that Nad sang on the album. Nad was wonderful at the gig, even though he was sick. Some pics are good some are blurry, but I have them all here. Hackett is the keeper of the real Genesis flame. Thanks Steve and Jo.

The fires are burning in another land, Don't start counting, don't start counting. Colder and colder, the ice is moving closer And it gets me down. Going round and round and down the same old track. Pack on my back, going swiftly nowhere, Heart in my ear beating like a drum. Where will you go? All by yourself. (Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah.) And now I'm standing on the corner. Waiting in the rain, But then in sunlight without warning, I invent a name, Me and Sarah Jane, We had a special thing going, Me and Sarah Jane. It was a time of love and laughter, It wouldn't come again, We had our round of joy but after, Then began the pain, Me and Sarah Jane. We had a special thing going, Me and Sarah Jane, Sarah Jane. Searching for a clue. Traces on the sand. First I'm flying, going round round round, Then I'm sliding going down down down, Doesn't matter where I start I always end up Crawling through those same old crowded rooms. Me and Sarah Jane, We had it coming All the pain, Walking down the streets, And finding nothing is the same, And now the city lights are dimming one by one, It costs too much money to keep them all on. Me and Sarah Jane, In silence walk along the shore, Tears of joy and mocking laughter, Words lost in the wind. The tide was rising, But there we stayed, We had no fear of dying We weren't afraid. "Me And Sarah Jane" was released in the fall of 1981 on Genesis's 11th studio album, Abacab. FROM WIKI: The group initially wrote an album's worth of material which they subsequently discarded because they saw themselves as becoming, in Mike Rutherford's words, "a caricature of ourselves". In what he saw as a major turning point for the group, they made a decision to throw out any songs which sounded like anything they had done before. The album continued the band's sharp stylistic shift, which had begun on the preceding album Duke, towards a radio-friendly pop music sound. "No Reply At All" features the Earth, Wind & Fire horn section (as did Collins' solo album Face Value earlier in 1981). Genesis produced Abacab solely by themselves. Engineer Hugh Padgham, who had assisted Collins on Face Value, continued to work on Genesis and Collins recordings through the end of the 1980s. END WIKI: As a huge Genesis fan, I remember listening to this album the first time and thinking they had pretty much dropped all of their progressive structures that had made my favorite string of Genesis albums (A Trick Of The Tail, Wind & Wuthering, & ....And Then There Were Three)...which they had begun moving away from on the previous album (Duke). This record was always frustrating for me. It seemed to lack cohesiveness and always felt so slight (especially considering their earlier periods)...not much ever stuck with me. Even though I'd listen to it frequently, after a very short time, I would be hard pressed to recall most of the tracks...and I wasn't fond of the big hit ("No Reply At All"). However there were a few nice songs, and one that I truly did love..."Me And Sarah Jane". I imagined (and started to make) a different video for this than the one I ended up with. When I was making my previous Genesis video ("Heathaze") the very first effect I created was the falling leaves/Abacab cover...before I realized I had used the wrong album cover! However, I did like the way that effect looked and thought about using it later for the track from Abacab I thought it best suited for ("Man On The Corner"). "Me And Sarah Jane" was the only track from Abacab I ever felt compelled to video and I started that effort (based around the old image of the waterskiing couple). At some point, I couldn't resist plugging in the old falling leaves/Abacab cover effect, even though I tried to resist since I knew once I did I'd end up using it too heavily and I didn't really want this video to wander too far. But I did, and it did, and well, although not exactly what I'd hoped for.....it is what it is! ;-) Hope you enjoy it and THANKS FOR WATCHING! As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who's art contributed to this new art! THANK YOU!!! tony banks phil collins

No cloud, a sleepy calm, Sunbaked earth that's cooled by gentle breeze, And trees with rustling leaves, Only endless days without a care, Nothing must be done. Silent as a day can be, Far-off sounds of others on their chosen run As they do all those things they feel give life some meaning, Even if they're dull. It's time to stop this dreaming, must rejoin the real world As revealed by orange lights and a smoky atmosphere. The trees and I are shaken by the same wind but whereas The trees will lose their withered leaves, I just can't seem to let them loose. And they can't refresh me those hot winds of the south. Oh I feel like an alien, a stranger in an alien place. Now the light is fading fast, Chances slip away, a time will come to pass When there'll be none, Then addicted to a perfumed poison, Betrayed by its aftertaste, Oh we shall lose the wonder and find nothing in return. Many are the substitutes but they're powerless on their own. Beware the fisherman who's casting out his line Into a dried up river bed, But don't try to tell him 'cos he won't believe you. Throw some bread to the ducks instead, it's easier that way. I feel like an alien, a stranger in an alien place. The trees and I are shaken by the same wind but whereas The trees will lose their withered leaves, I just can't seem to let them loose. And they can't refresh me those hot winds of the south. I feel like an alien, a stranger in an alien place. "Heathaze" was released in late-March 1980 on the 10th studio album from Genesis, Duke. This was always my very favorite track on an album that I was never as fond of as the band's three previous albums (Trick Of The Tail, Wind & Wuthering & ...and Then There Were Three). Picked up Duke with high expectations for a continuation of the progressiveness of those three albums that came before, but this album seemed so slight...still does, however it was a very popular album at the time and I can honestly say that I listened to more than my fair share of it! FLAC audio sourced from the 2007 SACD! This album began the more "pop" period that would eventually bring Genesis much popularity, but they were never the same to me. I guess "Heathaze" was always my favorite because it was the closest thing to the music of those three previous albums that were so special to me. Tried to capture some of the imagery that the songs always brings to my mind when I hear it. I did more mask work with the Duke cover (mainly window effects, played with moving the moon across the window, etc. in the end I think there are really only two that I ended up using) but just couldn't fit them in this video without it getting too busy....maybe I'll use them later in another tune....but which one? ;-) Also was able to create a very nice "heathaze" effect (the kind you see on a hot summer day on the highway or desert, etc.) but it wouldn't work very well with the mostly white of the cover, I probably should have worked it through another image, but the render time for those type fractal effects takes too long...and I was already wanting to be done. This is my third Genesis video (after "Ripples" and "Your Own Special Way"). Probably drop one from Abacab next, before getting back into my other started projects from "Trick...", "Wind..." & "...And Then..." Of course a recent request from something from The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway has also been on my mind!? (Now there's a album of tricky songs to vid! LOL!) I hope you enjoy what I came up with for this beautiful song and as always....THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!!!!!! As usual HUGE THANKS to everyone who's art contributed to this art......THANK YOU!!!!

Genesis - Home By The Sea (P1 & P2) // Rome - 2007 From album "Genesis" - 1983 Genesis: (Peter Gabriel), (Steve Hackett), Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford. Creeping up the blind side, shinning up the wall stealing thru the dark of night Climbing thru a window, stepping to the floor checking to the left and the right Picking up the pieces, putting them away something doesn't feel quite right Help me someone, let me out of here then out of the dark was suddenly heard welcome to the Home by the Sea Coming out the woodwork, thru the open door pushing from above and below shadows but no substance, in the shape of men round and down and sideways they go adrift without direction, eyes that hold despair then as one they sign and they moan Help us someone, let us out of here living here so long undisturbed dreaming of the time we were free so many years ago before the time when we first heard welcome to the Home by the Sea Sit down Sit down as we relive our lives in what we tell you Images of sorrow, pictures of delight things that go to make up a life endless days of summer longer nights of gloom waiting for the morning light scenes of unimportance, photos in a frame things that go to make up a life Help us someone, let us out of here cos living here so long undisturbed dreaming of the time we were free so many years ago before the time when we first heard welcome to the Home by the Sea Sit down Sit down as we relive out lives in what we tell you let us relive out lives in what we tell you Sit down Sit down cos you won't get away no with us you will stay for the rest of your days - Sit down As we relive our lives in what we tell you Let us relive our lives in what we tell you
