I am learning Spanish.. anyone for help, por favor??
Tom Halbert (23 days ago)
"Quiero presentarle a Juan (and quiero presentarte a Juan") means I'd like to introduce YOU to JUAN, not introduce Juan to you. The speaker has it backwards.

If anyone would like to learn English, I'm here to help, so long as you can provide me with assistance in Spanish. I am available on email, but I unfortunately do not have WhatsApp. If you could, please keep the lessons appropriate and stick to the topic. That being said I'm happy to help, if you can help my Spanish.

here's a few suggestions for how to learn Spanish Decide precisely why you want to speak it Try to speak Spanish in your everyday life Find which method works for you the best. (I learned about these and more on Fergs Spanish Blueprint site )

Thank you so much! We're all taking a trip to San Antonio for our annual Spanish competition in our club. I fear I'm not adept enough, so these simple phrases to spot on the tests are really going to help! ¡Es muy práctico! I'd like one thing answered, if I may. With these phrases, are there any specifics I must look into? Like grammar specifics. With Spanish saying one phrase may be describing one thing, and then describing another with a different word. You don't have to spell out everything, just anything major I should watch myself with. Anything at all? Gracias.

Thank you so much for the amazing videos!! I've been learning a lot of Spanish phrases in my spare time. I was wondering if anyone knows why at 15:04 where it says "quiero presentarle a Juan", why the speaker uses "presentarle" rather than simply "presentar"?
Joe Savage (1 year ago)
David Zhang Because it is not the same. Scenario. *** You are in front of the professor and Juán is close to him. The professor will talk to you as "Mr. You", using "Usted" style rather than You style. *** - I want to introduce Juan... to you. - Quiero presentarle a Juan. Where is the "to you" person in the Spanish version? Just enclosed in "le". Le is related to Usted, not to Juan. Le is related to who is hearing the phrase. To who is intended to get directly the phrase. (For sure Juan is hearing aswell... but he is not the intended person to receive the phrase). Now in English, the other version. - I want to introduce Juan. - Quiero presentar a Juan. Some information is faulty, for us, the Spanish people. You must not to suppose in that phrase... you are the person who will get the introduction about Juán. This means... you suppose the professor will introduce Juán to you... And it is wrong. You guess it... but is not a fact. You suppose it. Using presentarle, it gives 0 possible doubts in the person who is hearing the phrase. In this case, you. All is clear. Enough info well shown using presentarle. Scenario. *The professor thinks it is a good idea to introduce Juan to someone called Raúl and he is going to speak about it... to you.* - Quiero presentar a Juán. How could you guess if you are the person intended to get the phrase? He didn't mentioned someone called Raúl yet... So... if in a few moments he is not talking about Raúl... the phrase has.. non sense. We don't make that phrase if Raúl is not being "shown" in the phrase at some point. Non sense. Thanks to the "le", you have 0 doubts, and all keep fluid between the professor, Juán and you. "Quiero presentar a Juan" is more a thought than a phrase. It fits the wish the professor has about Juán. But if he speaks to you... he has to get "you" at some point of his thought.

Austin Ozzy (1 year ago)
What type of Spanish is this please. Is this the one that is spoken in mainland Spain or is this a variation of it. Example, Auxilio which to my understanding should be "Ayuda" and alli. I once saw allli spelled as "ahi" was that them trying to help with phonetics or something else. Please let me know, thanks.
Joe Savage (1 year ago)
Austin Ozzy The professor accent is Cuban. Most words written in the video are Castilian words (Spanish from Spain). I don't know in other countries, but in Spain you can ask for ayuda or auxilio or even several other words. Allí is more far than ahí... referenced from "aquí". Aquí/acá -> ahí -> allí -> allá. Scenario. *You are in a field. In front of you, there is a tree. A bit far away from the tree, there is a rock. In the horizon, you see the shapes of some mountains. Sunny day... but still you can see some clouds.* Aquí/Acá. You. Ahí. Tree. Allí. Rock. Allí/Allá. Mountains. Allá. Clouds. The difference between allí and allá is: - Allí. Spot. Specific. - Allá. No spot concept. Generic. As our h has no sound... ahí cannot be mistaken by allí. The LL sound is so easily spotted by ears. Ahí has only 2 sounds. A + I. Allí has 3. A + LL + I. All consonants are much noisier than vowels.

Este video es muy bueno. Verlo me hizo entender algunas cosas que pueden resultar difíciles del Español. Aunque creo que su ventaja (Del Español) es que las letras siempre tendrán un solo sonido y eso es muy bueno en comparación al Inglés que las letras pueden sonar distinto dependiendo de la palabra y hasta en algunos casos llegan a ser mudas. Por lo que hay que aprender las palabras prácticamente de memoria.

what is it to be fluent mean how log can it take me to learn fluently
Reinette Visser (2 years ago)
Brandon, don't worry too much about trying to be fluent, because it's so daunting that it may put you off even trying. Simply start by trying to communicate and once you can do that (quicker than you may think!) then you start to refine the grammar and vocabulary. Good luck!

Its been ten years since I've consistently been around Latino family and friends on a regular basis with Spanish speakers. This was helpful and a good reminder of some of those words you don't think of anymore. I'm better at reading than responding, now my husband text me in Spanish i reply in English and verbally but I want to get to where I'm strictly fluent. Being able to start my own convos in Spanish and respond without using spanglish lol

Maddi orihara it's probably equivalent in English when we say, "maybe" or "perhaps" or even, "might"
Vanessa gabriel (2 years ago)
And also you can say quizá(s) this means perhaps we have a lot of ways to say one word.
