Your example in behavioral analytics is wrong, that more like forecasting and not predictive.

what type of education do you need for the BI field?

Not 100% sure, but any quantitative field should do the job. Such as finance, accounting, statistics, engineering.

How does reporting add less value than monitoring? Isn't the data that is collected by monitoring used in reporting?

Great question Lawrence. It is a fine line, but reporting's value is limited in that it can only let users know what happened in the past. That real-time monitoring lets users see what is happening in the present, it often enables a more germane, if not timely response. The possibility for faster reactions and more targeted decisions is where the added value comes in.
